driftwood prices

I just bought these 2 pieces of EBay. With shipping I paid about $55.

Got them from rockartsource. Dude has some awesome pieces and carries multiple kinds of wood. I bought a Malaysian and a Mopani piece.

I could sure use the one in the 1st pic........

at one LFS in my area, there was a simple piece of driftwood that looked a bit like a tree; it had a trunk attached to a slate base and then it went up into three branches. 70 bucks. yea right.

at another LFS there was a pretty big piece of driftwood that was at least 3 feet long and 1½ feet tall going for $250. no base, no nothing. just the wood.

and then, there was another store selling drifwood for nano tanks. these were pretty small peices, with the smallest being 3 inches across and an inch tall, and then the largest being almost a foot long but 5 inches tall. ranged from 10-60 bucks.

Wat a jip.........

sad thing is, I can walk about a mile down to the Mississippi River and fill up the bed of a truck with drift wood peices ranging from a foot long to an entire root sytem of a tree, in about an hour.

i got a 7pound mopani off ebay 99cents plus shipping was $14

You can check Aquabid too.

You know, I used to think driftwood was pretty pricey. But this mopani stuff that zoomed "makes".....most places sell this stuff pretty cheap. The small pieces are about $6, and the large ones are usually in the $20's. Recently Petco was doing a "buy 1 get 1 half off" on the mopani. Needless to say I got a couple of pieces. I have 3 tanks, all pretty small(3, 8 and 14g) and they all have mopani pieces.
