I just ordered a weighted piece of driftwood specifically designed for aquariums but my LFS told me driftwood drastically lowers the Ph of the water. Has anyone else heard of this?

Thanks! That eases my mind!

Most fish we keep in the aquarium hobby prefer acidic water
actually, most fish in the hobby couldn't care less what the pH is in your tank, as long as it's stable and not extreme at either end of the range.

Thanks for your thoughts guys! ;)

I didn't know the brown water was "good" for the fish, so I soaked mine in a bucket for three or four days and changed the water every day or two when it got dark. That way, when I finally put it in my tank, I didn't have to worry about it changing the color of everything. It worked pretty well for me, but I didn't know that the coloration was good for the fish or I might not have gone through the trouble. ;)
