Dwarf Gourami Breeding Question

UPDATE:
Took out all fish and one snail (because he has had his feelers bitenoff by the male gourami) from the tank. There is only the two gouramis, and a few nerites + apple snails.
I dropped the water level by about 3 inches and turned the heat to 30 C.

The female is hiding and he is making sure she doesnt come out of hiding. They have beenon nothing but live food for two daysnow, but I will put more in later.

I think he is building a bubblenest, although he hasnt quite got the hang of it yet. Instead of gulping i air, then blowing them into the nest, he sits under the nest then releases the bubbles. It is less effective because half of them land outside the bubblenest, but still.
I don't think the female has eggs though, as her tummy is not big. Is this a problem? It is my main concern because how can they breed if she has no eggs?

Here is a pic of the 'bubblenest'. Is it a bubblenest?



Also, the male has like a worn out patch behind his left pectoral fin. Anyone know what it is?

Ok it is definately a bubblenest as he is now gathering plant matter for hs nest. So cool to watch!

THe female will get more plump when she is ready.Look at a picture of hornwort,you want a fluffy plant like that.

Well, I actually came upon your thread after reading the what to do if post, I don't know gouramis beyond their being pretty BUT, I definitely qualify as an anyone, and I am pretty good at surfing for quality info. Google: "dwarf gourami breeding" searched this link was 2nd or 3rd page in, checked a few others, nothing near this good. I'm sure there's more out there too.

Thank you very much, and I can see your point, but looking on a webpage does not answer my questions. Some of them, yes, but others it can not. I have used this link, any I indeed found it useful but there were other questions that I needed answered from real people. On a webpage it is just telling you and if I had a question, I have to ask it to a real person/people, and thats why I posted in this thread.

Can't find hornwort anywhere and I can't even find it on the internet site I use. I'll have to get by with what I'm using now.

I went back and looked at all the post on this.thick floating weed mass.live food or decapped brine shimp eggs.cover the tank that keeps the nest from breaking and gives the fry warm humid air to breath they are air breathers for about the first week.space for the female to hide if you are not goin to PULL her or ADD more females.the nest building dance the male is doing may go on for 4 to 8 weeks.during this time the male is going to be very hard on her.once spawning starts they will spawn almost none stop for about a week.as this I'm guessing is first time spawning you will get a few hunderd fry. Once they spawn the male will stop eating standing guard spitting eggs and fry back into the nest until all are free swiming.IMHO you need to pull your female and fatten them both up
