does anyone keep dwarf neon rainbows in ph greater than 7 and harder water? Mine is just over 7 and pretty hard but I was wondering if they would adapt?

They will do fine in a PH of even greater than 8. Just make sure that you know what the PH of the tank water they are coming from, as well as, the PH of your tap water. The larger the difference the more important it is to slowly acclimatize them to the new PH.

What Watcher said is correct.

Rainbows come from a zillion different pH, KH and GH waters and are pretty adaptable so long as acclaimation is done slowly.

The breeder I get my rainbows from is in CA and his pH is over 8 and my water, out of the tap, is 7.8.

Would a small school (6) of dwarf rainbows do ok with angels? One site I looked at said yes, one said no.

I've had them together with no issues in the past. Individual results may vary though.

Again, what Watcher said :)

Take into account that rainbows are very active fish. They need a fair amount of schooling room to be content. The problem is that angels use the same water column area and you have to take that into consideration. If you have a large tank that is not filled with schooling fish, then I think it might work. If not -- you pays yer money you takes yer chances :)
