does anyone keep dwarf neon rainbows in ph greater than 7 and harder water? Mine is just over 7 and pretty hard but I was wondering if they would adapt?
They will do fine in a PH of even greater than 8. Just make sure that you know what the PH of the tank water they are coming from, as well as, the PH of your tap water. The larger the difference the more important it is to slowly acclimatize them to the new PH.
Take into account that rainbows are very active fish. They need a fair amount of schooling room to be content. The problem is that angels use the same water column area and you have to take that into consideration. If you have a large tank that is not filled with schooling fish, then I think it might work. If not -- you pays yer money you takes yer chances
Mine are kept at water with pH 7.6-7.8, GH ~9, KH ~7, and have been breeding routinely and regularly since the first shipment of both males and females into this country.
