Eating a fish alive

The guys in college use to swallow live goldfishes.

I saw this on tv where they have competitions in China doing this.

I watched a documentary once where in some country they actually consider eathing a live local fish (small like goldfish size or smaller) medicinal. They were using it to remove "exorcist" actions from children on a regular basis and believe that it truly works. It was really weird to watch. I can't remember what poverty stricken country it was though.

But how could they keep it alive while they were deep frying it? And wouldn't the pain be un-bearable for the fish? How could anypne do such a thing to such a pretty fish? They were like eating its organs and it still stayed alive! I don't get it!???!!!???!!!???????

barbaric isnt it, they do it by wrapping the head in a wet cold towel and holding the body of the fish in the boiling oil until cooked. i cannot imagine the pain the poor creatures must endure, to then have cooked parts pulled form your body while still gasping for air. humans are the cruelest of animals :angryfire:

i stumbled across the awful videos of them actually cooking the fish while looking up aquariums and fish on youtube when bored one day. its extrememly graphic, and i felt like crying seeing the poor thing cooked then eaten while still obviously alive. there are some terrible videos on there, lobsters half cooked and eaten while they are still trying to run away with their raw uneaten legs and head aswell. i just dont understand why anyone would do this :screwy:

Whether we agree or disagree with things like this, its tradition in the perticular countrys where these things occur...we should not slate them for it...what one country might see as barbaric, another country will see it as part of every day life...

apparently according to some info ive read, this is no tradition, its a new thing they have started doing in recent times, whether this is true or not i dont know, but at the end of the day, torture is torture, tradition or not.

You'd think humans would know better... but I wouldn't say humans are the cruelest animals in the world.

I would say the vast majority of animals on the planet end their lives by being eaten alive.

I'm not saying that makes it right for humans to torture animals... just pointing out a fact.

I think it has something to do with status, the fresher the food the better etc, what better way to prove how fresh your food is than cooking / eating it while still alive.
