Eco Bio Blocks.... test begins

keep us updated but i have a couple things to add..... tossing it in one tank and claiming it works i so dont agree with. the write would also do better if he got a real canister filter vs the hot mags and sponge filters. so no wonder why his tank isnt that clean. if he runs the micron filters they prob clogging fast.....

on the product some of their claims i have seen over and over and never seen any that live up to it. i think a good way is to set up 2 tanks right next to each other and try to keep both as close to the same as possible.

good luck

Welcome to the thread Squawk!

Mgamer... thanks for your input. Yes, ideal test conditions would of course include a side-by-side setup. In its absence (and in the inability to pull that off), I'll have to relay only my personal experience and impressions of the tanks and their progression (if any). I have to admit I'm really cynical re: any claim of reducing need for water changes. It will be interesting to see if any noticeable change in fish behavior/appearance occur in tanks that are clear, healthy and still getting 33-50% water changes twice weekly.

Update: Performed 50% water changes today and after breaking the blocks up into quarter sections, added them as follows:

1) SE Asian: Into filter tray along with the Fluval brand prefilter.

2) Lake Tanganyika: Over airstones under the rock pile.

So far so good..... SE Asia is cloudy at the moment after monthly filter maintenance but is slowly clearing. Lake Tanganyika. is clear as a whistle. All fish seem happy and unaffected.

Next update tomorrow!

Yes, I check all water parameters (compulsively, LOL) 3 times a week. I also perform 2 50% water changes at the exact time each week. Water parameters always read the same for my tanks... Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 5. The nitrate measurement has not changed, but it is still early. I will be sure to post any change to water parameters squawk :)

I am late to the game but here is a link to I think an hour long interview with the owners of woundersave.

I have heard 1 or 2 people who have used it to cure their water problems.

Squawkbert I was the one talking to the Baileys about that filter I have very serious doubts about the filter.

I did not hear anything that came with the filter that would remove nitrates and the few pictures that are available it looks like a whisper filter now there cold be something in the media cartridges but I know of no media that will absorb nitrates.

some one said in another thread that I agree with.

They are being marketed through Skymall how good could it be?

Sorry I forgot to post the link

Draal, please repost the link as I'd love to hear it... as this is a completely impartial product test for me, your thoughts are greatly appreciated!
