You can use a table saw or circular saw. Tin snips also work well.

this may be a dumb qustion, but are they all the same size? not the outside because i know there are 2 bulb 4 bulb 2 foot 4 foot ect. but the liitle sqares? havent had time to go look yet

They're all the same, the only difference is color, some stores have white, black and metallic/silver.

I can get 3/8 by 3/8 squares here or 1/2 by 1/2.

I use a fine tooth hack saw blade and sand the cut edges.

here is what i want to do. ii want to create a space at the top of my tank 4 inchs deep 14 to 18 inchs long to give some blood fin tetras a place to sleep at night so my jewel/jewels cant get to them so i would need a square big enuf for a blood fin but not the jewel/jewels. any ideas or suggs good or bad are welcome.
