Eheim 2213 Filter +Rena xp3

Setting something up new is a bit different. If it was used it was probably mostly all already assembled, I bet just a few main parts were disconnected. You probably didnt have lots of duplicate parts either, as my new 2026 came with multiple intake/spraybar parts and at first I didnt even realize there was actually two completely different sets, I thought they were suppose to somehow all go together. I thought why would they send you two complete intakes and spraybars? But after seing how cheap looking the 'stock' set was then it made more sense. But your probably right, setting up up without looking at the manual I am sure is easier, the manual seems to confuse the heck out of you and just makes you frustrated lol.

Thank you loaches r cool. It was a new Eheim with only one set of parts but yeah, the parts are cheap looking and the manual is better off not read. :)

Eheim revisited

I'm a newbie on all this fish terminology. Two months ago I didn't know what a canister was. I bought a used eheim 2026 and put it together without even having a manual. I thought it was so simple. It is like a 5 piece puzzle that could only fit one way. I really don't see the difficulty in it. Maybe a 2213 is harder.

Yeah, and you're probably a Master Plumber too. :)

For those of us, like me, who are challenged in the "putting together" anything department, the directions were useless because they assumed the reader was knowledgable concerning most things, like the placement of double tap valves. I had never seen these things before so how was I to know what to do with them? The directions did not give me any clues. On the other hand, Rena directions assume a person is clueless and makes their system super easy to put together and maintain. That's the kind of system I enjoy using.

And yes, comparing my Eheim with yours, mine looks harder to put together. Yours is similar to the Rena with the quick-release valves already attached. I think my Eheim model has been discontinued since the 2026 came out, probably because there is a lot of clueless people like me out there.

This afternoon I added an Eheim 2213 to my 75g that already housed an xp3 filter. I just wanted to have protection if the xp3 ever failed for some reason plus I have always read that you can never have too much filtration. Now I am worried about the output of the Eheim. The xp3 output can be controlled with a valve on the spray bar but the 2213 does not have any way to slow down the output's force. The flow is pushing my plants around, especially the floating ones, which are being driven down farther into the tank. I'm not sure the fish like this flow either. I have the Eheim spray bar horizontally positioned at the top back of the tank. The bar is under water though because I did not want to agitate the surface. Would positioning the bar in another manner help control outflow? Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Just a thought , the spray bar doesn't have to go on the outflow hose, I mean if you just removed it, it's not like it would not wrk, it's just an option given to the user so they have the choice to use or not to use depending on the application.
Just a thought:)
