I would think the head seal would be good for a couple years IF properly cleaned and maintained during servicing. But, after all, it is considered a replaceable item and if it has been damaged or the filter overfilled with media (doubtful), it could be time to replace it.
When I replace the head seal on my 2028 after 4 years, I compared the old and new seals and noticed a considerable difference in seal height. It is an easy fix though I had to use a bent safety pin in order to get the old seal out.
