Eheim Professional 2 leaking HELP!

I would think the head seal would be good for a couple years IF properly cleaned and maintained during servicing. But, after all, it is considered a replaceable item and if it has been damaged or the filter overfilled with media (doubtful), it could be time to replace it.

When I replace the head seal on my 2028 after 4 years, I compared the old and new seals and noticed a considerable difference in seal height. It is an easy fix though I had to use a bent safety pin in order to get the old seal out.

Mine did the same thing. There didn't appear to be any nicks- in the gasket or the cover, and it was clean as a whistle, but it leaked anyway

For a quick fix while trying to locate your replacement gasket you can try lining the edge of the top motor housing with a single piece of silicone tape - where it meets the main gasket, to keep it from leaking. It sealed whatever part wasn't fitting togetehr snugly enough without it. It worked for me. Due to the shape of the filter it was a total PITA to get it in place around the corners, and I had to try it a couple times to get it placed just right to stop the leak. I couldn't disconnect the filter so I had to do something for an emergency repair.

The good news is the filter should still be under warranty- call Eheim directly.
