Eheim

i don't think this is eheim's problem. as far as i can see they were very respectful to you, a person emailing them out of the blue wanting discounted stuff because you didn't read the box or research the product first. they upgraded their package, now everything is included. should they turn around and send free sets of media and new parts to everyone with an older model?

this should have been between you and the LFS owner. eheim made the product but they don't set the retail prices. it's the LFS owner's fault/problem/scam/mistake that he's selling two different products for the same price. i don't see how returning a product is "rude for everyone involved". At most it was a mistaken purchase - you did not get what you were expecting. That's what return policies are FOR. Maybe the LFS owner was totally ignorant that the products were different, but instead of keeping it a big secret, maybe he should be informed of that fact so this doesn't happen in the future?

Is the owner an ex-Mafia bruiser or something? "I know the owner so don't tell him! I really don't want to talk to the dealer about this..." It just sounds really weird, and sort of like a scam - you have the solution right in front of you, but refuse to do it that way.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Unless there is a manufacturing defect in the product, I doubt Eheim would want to get involved in any case. Purely a situation to be resolved between the end user and the retailer.

Rough deal - I'd be po'd with the LFS more than anything - for not pointing out that you were buying an older filter. With no price difference that is pretty sharp practice.

:iagree: I would find a new LFS after this. Think he would know his products better for this to be a mistake.

i think he told me about it, but i didn't realize how much media was given. like eheim packs it up, every single tray for ya. I thought it was just gonna be like a tiny bag just to try out. etc. anyways, i eventually told my LFS, cause eheim's technical support (technical support for aquarium products?) told me to pretty much p1ss off.

and did the lfs owner do anything to help ?

true true, but...

what happen to quality customer care, they could have done something to make it a little better.

Should have bought a Fluval. :thm:

I replaced the fluval and a magnum 350 with the 2 eheims i bought.

I am thinking of starting up some other tanks...gotta do something with the fluval right? its still actually pretty new in my opinion, like 1 year old.

no, the LFS owner is not an ex mob, but I wouldn't be surprised if he knew them, or any other dangerous cells.

its true, companies don't directly set retail pricing, but if anyone believes a manufacturer doesn't have influence on pricing of their own stuff..................................................................................I won't go there.

even if I'm wrong for whatever, and whatever. I'm still displeased. WHERES MY PUNCHING BAG!?
