Emergency!!!

Please, please, please- Do not start treating this fish with anything. I for one have never heard of a bacteria that will cause a fish to break out in bubbles or white spots.

If you are going to treat him, lets make sure we have a preliminary diagnosis. Don't waste your money, don't add chemicals that you might need to remove and switch later that might interact with what will really help him.

Lets figure out what the problem is before we start adding any meds. If you have your heart set on it, some melafix is always a safe option at recommended doses and won't do any harm.

Take it easy, we have no idea what this is- or if its anything to worry about at all.

Here is a picture of him right now:

I will submit a better one in a few minutes. Having a hard time getting a picture. U can see one of the streaks, it looks green in the picture.

Here is a pic of him from the other day:

Could the streaks be discolorations from stress, being quickly moved from one tank to another? I know my BP got some black coloring when we moved house. No disease, just a color change. And could the white bump be some kind of bacterial infection.
That is possible. But the white bumps were forming all over his body and right after I moved him the streaks started.

You're doing the right thing. He's got clean water and you're keeping him calm. That's really your best bet. Clean water, no stress. That's the best thing.

The bad news is I have never heard of anything that can cause this. The good news is I never heard of anything that can cause this. I've been doing this a long time. Sit tight, let him rest in clean water and regroup in the AM when the sun comes out.

The only thing I can think of is not a disease or anything to worry about. Did you just do a water change? Sometimes when water comes out of the tap its got a lot of air dissolved in it from being mixed around in the pipes. When it comes to rest the air comes out of solution, and bubbles will form all over, even on fish. Just like bubbles in a soda. Could that be it?
I did a water change about 20 minutes before it happened. It wasn't on him it looked like it was his scales that were forming bumps or bubbles.

That could very well be your answer. Do you have bubbles on other surfaces in the tank you did the w/c on? I can see the stripe you mean, but it doesn't look like illness. When fish get stressed or scared they will often change their color patterns slightly. He may just be freaked from the water change and the quick move.

He's very very pretty. You obviously take good care of him. Keep an eye on him, but don't rush to conclusions okay?

Thanks for the compliments :) I don't mean to ignore them. I'm starting to calm down a little more. I think I'm going to do one more water change just to make myself feel better and then cover him back up for the night.

I think you both could use a good rest :)
