thanks guys. I am just glad that the project hasnt had too many hiccups. a few things here and there... but nothing we havent been able to work around. tonight i need to get it drained again. it rained yesterday so there is water sitting in it today. tomorrow will work on the sand and underlay. sunday the liner. i hope anyhow!

Filter media is delivered! And now I understand why it didn't come UPS. The box is monstrous. Hopefully it will be enough filter media for this project. It really should be, based on skippy's calculations (10 cubic feet is what they recommend). This should be about 12.5 cubic feet (if we did the math right... it's 2" x 20" x 45'). Anyhow, I think it will work out well. Just going to take some time to cut it all down into manageable pieces. :)

I'll get a pic of it before I start cutting it up. :)

well bummer today - rainy again, and everything is a sticky muddy mess. Clay, when wet, is extremely sticky. I end up with 10 pound boots after just a few steps. :(

Supposed to be clear tomorrow though, and I'm hoping we can at least clean out what water is in the pond (a few inches) and get the sand and liner down. We'll see how it goes. :)
 
If you ever need filter material you can go to a HVAC supply house and get it. It is usually in stock :) Good job on the progress:)

this is a fabulous project, and you guys are the most organized and focussed folks i can imagine

amazing job. thank you for documenting the progression.
 
It is nearly full. Been 4.5 hours so far. I'm kind of bumming because I think it's going to be a lot less gallonage that we had originally hoped, but the sloped sides have made a big difference in how much water it will hold. It will probably take another 30-60 min to finish filling. It was filling at about 5 gpm. So I'm guessing it will hold around 1500 gallons. This is nothing to sneeze at, but it is less than I had intended. Ah well. It will still be beautiful and I'm sure we'll still enjoy it. :)

We are also double-checking our numbers with the 5 gal bucket test with the water meter, which measures Cubic Feet. When we checked it a while ago, it was at about 140 cubic feet, but that was probably an hour and a half ago or so. 7.47 gallons to every cubic foot. So we'll see how it shakes out.
