Exact ID On the ram.

So the spike is not an absolute way to define male/female? Sorry for the thread hijack, but i've noticed is quite difficult to sex some blue rams. Hence why mine is named Pat.

I used the spine actually aside from lack of pink belly.

the dorsal spine is not 100% accurate. nor is the blue spangling in the black spot on their back. if you do a search here, there is a thread that shows a female with long dorsal spikes (two of my females have spikes that are as long as the male's). my male doesnt have a black spot on his side at all. give it a little time. if it is female, you will see a pink belly develop.

Thanks guys.

Also, looking at it very closely, I see the gut has been 'sucked' in like it hasnt eaten anything for a while, could this be parasites?

Keep an eye out for white stringy poo as an indication of internal parasites... but honestly your fish looks just fine to me judging by the pics. He looks like he would enjoy some meaty foods like bloodworms, but doesn't really look all that skinny IMHO. Fish often arrive at LFSs from wholesale facilities stressed and a bit on the thin side. You should be able to fatten him up soon. :)

It's not white, but I saw some 'clear' poo. Parasites? I really like this guy and I wanna save him :lipssealedsmilie:.

Anyone? I don't wanna lose this guy :help:.

If he is eating well, don't worry about it. Poo is not always an accurate sign and it could only be mucous membrane of the intestines.
