Extinct bird seen, photographed, and eaten

Wow.....its amazing that somebody bought it simply to have the bragging rights of saying they ate it....

Probably didnt even taste great or any different than any other bird.....

LMAO!!!!! this was on our local radio station, KQRS!!!!!!!!

that is funny but the point that the DJs on ^ were asking how it is still around if it is the last one. if there was only 1 how many years ago how would this one still be alive? it couldnt breed with itself.

Ya know, there could be a fortune in cloning rare critters for gourmets who have more money than common sense...

You ever have a day where you just get hopeless for the human race?

The worst part is, this they probably didn't even know the significance of the animal when they sold/bought/cooked it. Imagine what you could ebay an extinct bird for? Anyone else catch the irony of that statement ?

Consider yourself immensely lucky that you can sit here and whine about the fate of a bird, because that takes a very high level of personal comfort. What people in the industrialized world often forget is that it's really hard to care about endangered species when you've got mouths to feed, or your own survival is a priority. If you really care about this quail, why not go to Luzon, throw some money into eco-tourism, or take some time out of your entirely more comfortable life and tour the countryside teaching the locals about sustainable harvest. Any way you cut it, armchair activists are far more annoying and worthy of your ire than some poor villager who sold an endangered bird to support himself or his family.
