Thanks everyone, I do appreciate all the responses.
First, for those who responded about thermometers, thanks. I was using a digital thermometer, but I've since learned that there are different types of sensors that are used. The least expensive ones use a material that does not give rapid results. But, I'll assume the ones suggested all give fast, i.e. 5 second or less results.
No doubt in time that I'll be able to tell the right temp by touch. Right now though, I've been way off guessing.
Bob, yeah, I need a better faucet, but I'd have replace my wife's fancy kitchen sink. BTW, tonight I hooked up to the bathroom sink which was much better - but I didn't notice that the python wasn't tight enough and since it was out of sight, I soaked the bathroom wall!
Andrew, thanks for the caution, but, I'm not worried about my hot water. I use a water conditioner treating the entire water tank before adding, secondly, my home is 10 years old, and I just had to replace the hot water heater a couple of months ago. But, you are right... until then, I did not realize a hot water heater needs to be drained regularly and there were A TON of minerals sticking to everything which I don't have now with the new tank. I will be making sure I do maintenance on this new tank, not so much for the fish, but for us.
Appreciate all the answers, and will pick up one of the suggestions next week. THANK YOU.
John
