I guess I should post the one rifle I keep here beside my carry weapon. This is my favorite rifle which marks my retirement, if for any other reason that I love its looks. Cant hit a barn door with .72 caliber round ball even though the barrel is riffled. But with .69 caliber maxiball the riflings come into play very accurately. The Idea was to keep your composure until the beast entered the 100 yard range, take earful aim and fire. If by chance you missed and you would almost have to completely miss if the beast was still coming without something missing like a shoulder or hind quarter, you had one more load to shoot in the 2nd barrel that the 1st shot may have dislodged and un-seated a dangerous explosive situation. So the procedure then was to quickly fall to the kneeling position for a more accurate 2nd shot while hitting the but of the rifle stock against the ground with 1 hard rap on the way down. Now with the 2nd load surly seated at the bottom of the barrel, you wait for the beast to close withing 15 to 10 yards point blank range, take a deep breath let half out, hold it, pointing at the animals center mass, and squeeze the trigger slowly until the shot completely surprises surprises you and hopefully no misfire lol. Almost forgot the weapon is a .72 Kodiak Express Double Rifle, produces 5000 pounds of energy.
