Featherduster's 24G Aquapod 150w HQI Reef

lol, your clowns are probably sleeping mine will when the moon lights are on just throw caution to the current, and float around :D

Thanks for all the great comments and suggestions.

Annette- The frag plug racks are something I bought online. I did get lots of eggcrate with the tank, but it was white and silver.

Also, thanks for the shelf idea. I redid my aquascape and I left the middle open for some flat pieces. I figured I could place two large shelf pieces in between them. I did end up having to remove one of the frag racks because they took up too much room.

I got lots of new zoas on two rocks I bought:
1st Rock has 50 blue zoas, 7 green zoas, 3 green/white zoas, 3 pink zoas.
2nd Rock has 8 random morphs that would take lots of time to inspect. Most are regular dragon eyes (bright orange center with bright green skirts).

Here is a small preview of the zoas. Some of the colors haven't opened all the way. The blue ones are fully open now:

wowowowow those blues are expensive usually...how much u get that thing for? 20k makes 10k lighting look like a joke especially when it comes to corals... = (

I wish they made something higher than 10 K in power compacts.

Feather, those are very nice blue zoaz indeed! great find.

I can't believe I missed this thread. Loving it FD. I don't usually like black sand but I gotta say that yours looks fantastic, really helps to make the colours "pop". And I am so loving those blue Zoas, will definately be coveting them:grinyes:

Thanks! This picture is actually taken under flash so the blue tint doesn't show. They are just really that blue :) As for pricing, lets just say I won't be buying more corals for a while. The good thing is I didn't have to pay the $5 per polyp rate that my other LFS charges for blues like these. The fish store that I got it at makes you pay based upon the rock/colony size.

Thank you ;) I haven't had much luck on finding nice zoas lately even though I visit at least one LFS every week so this was a nice surprise.

lol this thread tends to sleep down because the forum is very active. I also post during bad hours. Thanks for the nice complements. Since I covet so many things in your tanks its only fair you convet at least one of my items :cool2:

..................................................

Updates: My sixline has lots of character. The little bugger likes to flare at me when I press my nose to the tank xD Since my QT tank is badly scratched up I have to get very very close to the glass to try to see past the fog and marks. I am happy to say that he is eating garlic soaked pellets. I prefer all my fish eat pellets. They seem to keep the immune system working great.

Oh and here is a pic of my regular clown fish in my 35G. I caught her trying to "go into the light".

Update

I haven't been on for a while so I figured its time for an update.

I am happy to say that all fish are doing well. The sixline made it through QT and now spends his days happily inspecting every inch of the tank. He is actually a model citizen. Minds his own business.

My clowns have been bonding wonderfully. I have seen no signs of aggression and the larger one appears to be turning into a female. She is quickly growing in size and her face is darkening. They have moved their home location from the frag rack to the powerheads. Boring xD

The goby and pistol shrimp are also doing well. The goby pretty much hides all day and I sometimes see the shrimp fixing the cave or hear him snapping at brittleworms.

My only new coral is GSP. Which has spread nicely.

On now on to pictures:

1) Full tank shot. None of my fish felt like being in the picture.

2) My clowns. Just hanging out together like they usually do.

I will try to get some closeup pixtures later of the sixline, goby and some corals.

I love that sand, too. I'm using tahitian moon in most of my other tanks. (Shhhh... freshwater.) But then, I like both the light and dark substrates.

Thanks! I also like both. But I like light substrate due to its texture, not color. You can easily find a soft very fine grain sand in light, not possible in black. Or at least not natural black that is reef/tank safe.

The tank is looking superb mate..The pair of clowns look adorable..such funny fish...Great work.

Thank you. I always look forward your comments. My clowns have mellowed out a lot so they are funny to watch. My normal clown in my 35G is a bit stressed at the moment. I can tell she really wants to lay eggs because she has been frantically cleaning her "host". But she beats up any male clowns I place in there.

Here are some new pics I promised. I got lazy so I didn't place borders.

1. My sixline. An active fish, but can be very shy if I make sudden movements.

2. My sixline and female clown. They both came to see what I was doing around the tank.

3. My hi-fin shrimp goby. Apparently their long antennas don't grow back.

4. My GSP carpet. Starting to develop more of a neon color.
