Will feeder guppies do good for cycling a tank? I've heard that they are very hardy due to them living in harsh conditions already. I've also heard that they are very prone to disease. If the feeders survive the cycling of the tank, I will be able to add fancy guppies!!!

Feeders are only prone to disease because they are commonly inbred. As far as cycling your tank, yes, the guppies will work, but I would reccomend fishlessly cycling.

Use the search function and you'll find more than enough information on running a fishless cycle to get you started.

Even after I fishless cycle the tank, I'm not going to go ahead and get fancy guppies though. I'm still going to have to buy feeder guppies to see if the tank water is safe for my fancy guppies. So if they do good for cycling tanks, so be it, I will be off to get some tomorrow.

You check whether the tank water is safe by testing the water using a test kit.

If I get my water tested at Petco for free...what do they test?
Just ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates? Or also pH, hardness, and stuff?
