Feeder Guppies For Cycling

Is it possible to run both filters on the cycled 29 gallon for a month or so and then move it to the new tank? That way you avoid a cycle almost completely.

That's what I'm doing right now...but I'm only going to wait two weeks. YES, I'M IMPATIENT!!! lol. I'm also going to get feeder guppies for the turtle...and if the hatchling turtle can't catch the guppies(which he probably can't cause he's as slow as...u know) then the guppies will get babies!!! And that means more guppies!!!

If it could. It's still really small, and can't swim for his life. It floats most of the time too, and it's hard for him to get down into the water.

Well, I got fifteen feeder guppies and I put them into the cycled tank with the turtles. Not to let them get eaten, I put them into a 3 gallon tank, which I placed inside the 29 gallon. That way, the turtle can't eat them, and the guppies can have a cycled tank. Now the guppies range from 1/2" to 3/4", I was wondering if the female was pregnant. She looks like she's about to pop, and I can see the gravid spot on all the females. What should I do with the female that looks pregnant? Can 3/4" guppies already be pregnant, I'm not sure about the age of them yet.

I always thought feeder guppies were typically smaller than your fancy versions so they may be at their adult stage... I would let her have the babies... if you don't want the extra's, the adults should take care of them by eating them OR let the mother go in the turtle tank and maybe the turtle will learn to work with the little ones.

I've decided not to get fancys. These feeders are very beautiful already with hints of orange and black. If I can get a picture, would you be able to tell me if she was pregnant? And also, how long before she delivers?
