Okay...a bit more than '87...but the most memorable for me after Neil and the moon.

1963...5th grade...afternoon...Mrs. Demerit and English class....spelling drills....

"Children, I don't care if you learn to spell another word today". She sat down, and the announcement came that school had closed, and everybody was to go home.

Within seconds, and I mean seconds, of the principle announcing President Kennedy had been shot.

Sorry...didn't mean this to be negative...just the first vivid image on reading the post starter.

Hey, Bob, that's one of my earliest memories, too. I was 5, and I remember watching the funeral procession--my Mom was still as stone. Of
course, I remember the horse with backwards empty boots--Mom wouldn't tell me what it meant. Man, it had a huge impact. When I was in 5th grade, Bobby got shot. That was HUGE, too. I can still feel the stillness of the classroom, the lights turned out--that was a heavy silence. Truly.

Pre-cable, did anyone else have one of those big antenna on the roof with the spinny remote? I used to get in so much trouble by making it spin for like 5 minutes...
That was the bomb! Before that, we kids had to take turns holding the rabbit ears on bad reception days.

Yo-Noid! I hate him... hate hate hate.....

It's nice to learn new ways of cussing in foreing languages. :D

I did my best to undesrtand what Mork said when he hit his head with the egg-like ship. It's hard to hear since what I get here is dubbed to spanish, and the original audio of the starting sequence is lowered to allow the voice of the spanish narrator.
