Festae or Urophthalmus

Definately Uropthalmus. Also the most current classification is Amphilophus Festae not Cichlasoma.

Amphilophus is used for some Central American species related to the Red Devil, Amphilophus labiatus.

Festae are still in that group as far as I know, which alwayss truck me as a little odd, being SA's...definitely Uros BTW.

This is true. Festae are also Amphilophus, the only species from SA I believe.

I think there are couple Amphilophus in SA. Check Jeff Rapps page. I noticed there are 2 species in his list. There possibly have a few more that we aren't awared of.

I believe they are called Amphilophus because of their certain features that are similar to CA Amphilophus. Oh well, who knows. Only the experts know why they are named as such. :)

No there are no other amphilophus from SA listed there. I believe festae are the only ones.

Why did I go to that site......now I need a new tank!

Yeah huh! Amphilophus Atromaculatus.

You go to that website because you love what Jeff Rapps can offer... :p

I visit that site often just to check what he has. I'm planning to get the Red Head Severums. They are beautiful.

You must have a different list because that fish is not posted on his site.

Googled it and it is a sweet looking fish. From Panama. Isn't that Central America? How bad is my geography?

No no...not his stock list. In his photo gallery page.

As for googled it...you mean the Red Head Severum? He said that it was import fish from Peru. Heck...that Severum is cheaper than 2 of the severums I have (red face white body).
