Are my fish going to be ok for a couple of days without a filter? I have a 55 and filter went out today. Dont really have time to go get one today and store isnt open on sunday. Will they be alright until monday night? Not overstocked and perameters are good right now nit 0 amm 0 trates at around 5

I don't think that would be a good idea. there would be no surface disruption for oxygen exchange and the majority of your bacteria is housed in the filter. How did the filter go out? Are you sure its broken?

isnt sucking up any water. i've taken it apart and nothing. I have airstones in the tank. Sons bday party today and i need to drive 1 hour one way to the closest fs.

I would at least let the filter media float in the tank...

What kind of filter??

I had one do that, and once I disassembled it (the impeller and everything), cleaned it out (admittedly it wasn't that dirty) and reassembled it, it started running again. If you have one of those bottle cleaner things, they work well.

I didn't trust it after that, but I was like you.. I couldn't get to the lfs to replace it right away, so it filled the gap till I could get a new one.
