OK, guess I ran the poll for too long.

Thanks to everyone that helped out with my decision. I am going to purchase a filter. Probably a canister instead of a HOB. I think that, with the characteristics my wife and I are looking for, a canister is the way to go. A bit more expensive but worth it I suppose.

Now I just have to figure out which one. Maybe a Rena XP2. Might be better to get the XP3 but the 3 is not in the budget. Hey! I can always upgrade later. Right?

Or possibly the Mag350. Hmmm ... Is it quiet? Fairly easy to maintain? Other than the Mag350 canister, would I need any other hardware to get the Mag to work correctly? ie: An airpump, etc. I dunno is why I am asking.

Too muh gas exchange

Personally the only way I can see too much gas exchange is if you have plants. They need CO2.

I think best bang for the buck is the Mag Pro with the bio filter. The bio filter is an awesome piece of equipment for a tank without plants. Read up on it. And making one for a small tank just to save $ I think is a waste of time. Some people love to tinker and then I think it's ok.

Remember. The filter will last a long long time. And if you do not have proper filtration, then bye bye fishies. How much do fish cost? And healthy fish look better too.
