Finally a BIGGER tank!

Ok so anyone have any better methods of breaking an acrylic bond other than a chisel and thin paint scraper and hammer? It is a painstakingly long process right now

I have no idea, maybe you could try something sharper, but that would probably be less safe. I cut through my thumb once with kids scissors trying to open something when I was 8 six years ago.:) Didn't turn out so good, amazing red color on carpet, though....................lol

Ok some small progress today...

I busted out the 9" buffer with some scratch fix 2.0 just to see how it would work before I buy a large quantity of novus 1 & 2, possible 3 if I see that I need it after sanding.

The next two pictures are of different sides of the tank, but it gives you a before and after effect.

Here is the un-buffed side:

And here is the polished side:

What do you all think thus far?

Lol me too! That was just a quick buff too, no sanding.

I've heard you are supposed to buff the whole tank before sanding so you can see the real deep scratches, and don't waste your time on the superficial little ones.

since you are taking it apart i would so change the tank up. take it turn it on its side then take the front or back and get it cut to make the new side then re sport it with the rest. this way its wide and long but short lol have i told you i dont like tall tanks lol

x2...great idea!

I would do that but then the bottom would only be 1" thick and one side would be 1.25".

I like the idea but it's much more work as well lol

Plus it wouldn't look as massive, there is just something about a 4ft tall tank that says "HEY! LOOK AT ME! IM BIG!!! lol.

The bigger footprint would be preferable to the fish tho...
