Ok... I've finally gotten addicted to the look of sand over gravel (I actually have polished river rock in my 55, but the gravel pieces are quite large... some nearly the size of my pinkie nail) and I'm going to convert to sand as of tomorrow afternoon. I've already bought the sand and even washed it (freakin a... takes a lot of effort to wash 50 lbs of sand! :mad2
and have it ready and waiting for me. This is step 1 of 3.
Step 2 is the new malaysian driftwood I have soaking in the garage. In about a week, I'll have 2 absolutely beautiful pieces of driftwood to go into my tank. This is the first of two
Its very large, as is probably evident by the 20oz water bottle in the background. (to clear up any questions, yes, that is a team associated nitro tc3 on the left)
This is the other piece (for the time being, want to get more later on)
I'm sorry about the horrible photo quality... it was driving me nuts, but my camera's battery needs to be charged, so I just used my phone. I'll get you some pictures with a REAL camera soon. (Canon 300d)
Step 3 is to get the rest of my fake plants replaced by live ones and REALLY enjoy watching my fish.
I'm also planning to bump my cardinal population to 12ish, and perhaps even get 5-7 kuhli loaches. (they're still subjective... I'm tempted by either cories or angelicus/yoyo loaches too) Anyone have any opinions as to which ones I should fixate on? (and no, I'm not gonna get 7 yoyo's if I get them, probably 3-4
) Currently I have 3 clown loaches, (Yes, I know they get too big, they're about 3.5" each atm, had them for about a year... once they get to be between 5" and 6" I'm going to give them to a buddy of mine with a 240g tank, and replace them either with more babies or some angelicus loaches anyway) 4 scisortail rasboras, 4 harlequin rasboras, 4 blackskirt tetras, a bamboo shrimp, and one lonely cardinal tetra (at one point I had about 20... but shortly after introducing them, I had an ich outbreak, and it wiped out all but one of my cardinals, and all 3 of my bosemani rainbows.) Just so we're clear, this is in a 55g tank, though I do believe I mentioned it earlier, wanted to clear up any potential confusion just in case. I'm running a Rena XP3 and an Emperor 400, a 300 watt heater set to 82 degrees, (for when I had the cardinal school, and to help minimize risk of future ich outbreaks) 2x55 watt 6500k lights, and doing approx. a 40-50% water change every week. Any other info you need, please feel free to ask. Oh, and I'm always open to suggestions on plants to get too. I have 2 anubias nana and a handful of anacharis atm, hoping to get some hornwort, java ferns, and perhaps another anubias or two too.
Thanks for taking the time to read all of this. :-D
