Finally got that salt tank...

The ocean pods premium looks and sounds to be EXACTLY what you're lookin for. I've heard good things about oceanpods in the past as well. I say go for it :) and lets have some pictures of the mandarin!

Also, your nem is in crack.

I hope you do well with the mandy. Its very easy to see when they aren't getting enough food. They thin out in the rear part of their body and it is very obvious. A mandarin could wipe out 100s of pods per day so it can get expensive. Great that you are doing a pod farm tank.

This is the best picture I could get of him so far.

I ordered the 1000+ pods to start my farm :) the bottle treats 50 gal so I'm not sure if I can just dump all of it into the 5gal, actually I'll keep some back to feed my main tank.

Think it'd be better to keep it refridgerated between display feedings or float the bottle in the tank so it stays warm and feed the bottle.

Today I fed the tank a mix of frozen squid, veggie mix, brine, pe mysis and garlic to try and get the mandarin interested in prepared foods. I squirted some down into the rock where he was, he swam away at the sight of the syringe but came back and investigated the area. He stayed there for a while, couldn't tell if he was eating because of the angle but it looked like he had something in his mouth. Didn't see a full belly though. My pods should arrive Friday.

Good thinking on the food - if I was a mandarin I'd eat it, sounds pretty yummy lol.

I say you add atleast half to 3/4 the bottle to your farm - then the rest to your display. Since they're alive you shouldn't pollute the water, and it'll be beneficial to the tank and the mandarin.

Plus if he's hungry he could scarf down hundreds and hundreds of the things before he takes a break. My Dragonettes never really stop feeding. It's a constant "hop" "peck" cycle.

Here is a picture of my pod farm :) I'm debating on smashing up the lb of rock I have or buying more rubble. I kinda want a pile out the top of the macro, who says farms can't be pretty :)

You could build pod condos to put in there with the macro. Plastic mesh wrapped into a cylinder shape. Make a floor on the bottom of the cylinder. Fill with rock rubble. Lift out and swap back and forth when needed.

May throw off the nice aesthetics of the farm a little though.

^thats a really good idea. That'd make it really easy to get the pods over to the display.

Would you just put a little food in each "condo" to entice them to live and reproduce in there?
