huh ? and what about my ph ? as long as they are tank raised and im not wanting to breed they should be ok with 8.0 ph if i drip acclimate them right ?

okay so new plan Ill give an idea of what i want in my tank as far as very basic and maybe ya'll can help with speices. I want one show piece fish, a schooling fish, some type of cory, and some shrimp? and how many of each? I pretty much know nothing about the fish?
I think your original idea was a nice list, just would personally ditch the kuhlis and add 1-2 more corys. You could do the same if you want kuhlis instead.
In my opinion, cardinals are not the best choice for a beginner with really basic, hard and alkaline water. They are kind of sensitive, and they prefer softer water. There are many hardier tetras you could choose that would tolerate hard water better than cardinals. For example, black skirt tetras, Xray tetras, black neon tetras...I have found all of these to be more hardy. Also, cardinals are about $3-$4 a fish regular price. So, you can do what you'd like of course, but if you're asking for opinions, I don't think cardinals are the best choice.
