Fish doing great, everything else dying!!!! Help!

Its terrible that you have got such careless maintenance from that LFS,That is plain and simple bad business. You would think paying them $200 a month, plus stock, that they would do a better job.The owner not knowing that his own system was in that bad of shape?I would go with another company, and make sure they are reputable.as for the other place,I would not want store credit,I would demand my money back for all that was lost, and the $200 monthly fee,If they dont, sue them for negligent service.I cant imagine the thousands they have cost you over not doing the job right in the first place. As for the new company, naturally, they will try to sell you more stuff,so do some research on your own to see what equipment you already have will work on your system. You will not need half of what they will try to get you to upgrade to.Everything you stated will work fine, you will want a to look into changing your wet/dry into a refugium.Could be a simple fix,no need to get rid of it.The only thing you did wrong was to make a bad choice on that company.Dont take it to hard,Everyone makes mistakes,Its really sad how people prey on others new to saltwater.Hope you get it straightened out soon,Keep us posted

I am still plugging away at the "fix", but I wanted to keep everyone in the loop. Today I am meeting with a very high-end company. We are visiting some of their existing tanks to see their work and to see some of our options for set ups. I have made it very clear to them that I am no longer in a position to shell out a ton of cash to fix everything. Let's see how well they have listened. My wife and I are about to embark on our tour in a few minutes. I am sure what I will see today will be impressive. They have a tank featured in a book titled "The Most Beautiful Aquariums of the World". Let's see what they come up with....

Thanks again to all of you!!!

Good Luck.

Spent Saturday visiting some of company "B"'s existing customer's tanks. OMG...amazing. Truly the the most beautiful creations I have ever seen. These guys are the Rolls Royce of reef tanks. However, their price matched.

They only want $23k to fix my existing setup. OK, pick your mouth up off the floor now. Good thing we can use some of my existing stuff since a new setup would cost $38k.

For 23 large, they will give me a new tank made out of glass, set up a refugium, new skimmer, new auto RO unit, an extra pump, phosphate reactor, calcium reactor, kalk doser, 200 lbs live rock, 175 lbs live sand, salt water, 24 corals (soft and stony), 30 fish, and an assortment of other organisms such as snails, hermits, etc.

With that said, I am forced to stay with company "A" as they are promising me they will make things right. I have a few grand to work with in credits, so I need to make the most of it and only have to kick in what is necessary to get things right.

I have one shot to fix everything and I want to do it right this time around.

I really need specific input where possible. I started shopping online and most of the things I think I need aren't all that expensive. For example, I found a refugium for a 300g tank for $518 from fishtanksdirect, but I don;t know if what they sell is great or crap. Help! Is there a single online source that can sell me everything I need that that is of the right quality?

I want to replace the acrylic tank with glass. dim: 96x20x36, I know I want low iron glass front and back. (The tank is in the wall and visible from both sides)
Refugium...brand? source?
same for new skimmer, and any other necessary items needed. I am staying with my pump, lighting (Outer Orbit 150w Halides 72"), and chiller.

I am sorry to ask so much, but I can't deal with another screw-up and the local companies I have spoken with have different answers or are too much money. Thanks.
