Fish for 2.5 Gallon?

No goldfish. They are a pond fish imo =P
Grow way too big too fast to be of any worth in a small tank liek that.

a 2.5 gal is too small for a d. puffer too imo. They like a lot of space to explore or they get bored very easily and they are no fun when they are bored.

desertgoldhound is nuts, don't put an oscar in a 2.5 gal. They grow to 18 in.! trust me, i have one. Blue crayfish are iteresting creatures and so are guppies. Or you could go with a betta since they have a lovely colour.

I think the Oscar thing was a joke...
Can I have some more info on the blue crayfish? They sound really cool... How big do they get and what would you feed them, etc.?

Um that's why I said you could move the goldfish later, but I suppose that can be costly.

Really a nice betta with some shrimp and live plants will be lovely.

Somebody was left out of the joke. I don't think a sturgeon would fit in a 2.5 gallon either :joke: . I would just stick to a betta, make a nice little planted tank, maybe some ghosties.

no crayfish, I believe the blue crayfish you are referring to grows to 6-8 inches I would put them anything less than a 20 long. They are also AMAZING escape artists they will be out of you 2.5 more than in.

I have otos alone for years and they have been nothing but healthy and happy. So I don't care how much of the standard canon insists they need this and that, I see and know my fish through my own experience and I come to my own conclusions.

IMO you should stick with a betta and a few shrimp. That would look very nice with lots of plants- really most fish need more space to swim than 2.5 gallons.
