Fish online or LFS ?

I buy my fish at the LFS and some supplies. I have found it cheaper to order online for supplies because the LFS around here do not carry a variety of brands so I have to order online (i.e. lights) and I live in a big city....go figure.

One dosnt cut it. :D

Now, now. It only takes one for "Too bad they are only in Canada" to be a false statement. I'd actually like to see the one in Florida, sounds like it's quite the place. :)

Im a BigAls guy. I get everything I need at my LFS-Big Als. Too bad they are only in Canada.

The one in Florida opened up earlier this year, and they're planning more in the US.

OOPS! that's what I get for posting without reading all the replies.
To answer the original question, I've only ordered fish online that I couldn't find locally. The shipping is too expensive to order common fish that can esily be found locally.

how do you think most fish get to your favorite fish store ? They are shipped of course unless they breed inhouse which is rare.

I'm not against the idea of buying fish online, and if I found something that i couldn't get at a LFS I might get it if I wanted it bad enough. Thankfully i have three local stores here at school and 4 two hours away in my hometown, so i can get a lot of browsing done and put in requests for them to order certain fish when available. the only other reason i don't buy fish online is the shipping. it's so expensive. also, when i was working 8-6 daily it was really hard to get anything delivered b/c i didn't want it sitting outside all day. lately though i have to weigh the cost of shipping with the cost of gas if i were to drive 2 hours (well, 4 hours round trip) just to get a fish.

Most of my fish and about half of my plants were bought online. I paid a lot in shipping charges, but the stores in my state don't generally sell much of anything that I would want. I did the common fish thing as a kid, but now my tastes have changed.
