Fish Sanctuary

Wow! I'm impressed. Kudo's to you and all you do! It's great the adults in your house are so supportive!
Thanks. :)
Unfortunately I can't keep my ad on Craig's List. Some sad sap that sits on the computer all day and flags people on Craig's List thinks I'm just "Begging for fish." Not the nicest guy either. He has a bad reputation on Craig's List, and is even known as the "Craigs List Flagger". Sad actually, lol. He is unemployed, in his 20's or 30's, and thinks of himself as the "Craig's List Police".:bs::laugh:
Anyway, I have been dealing with him since I first started posting on there, and now I give up. Now that only thing I have to do if figure out how to get the word out about the rescue. Any ideas?

local paper might work but but would cost money the biggest thing is you have a web page open also you might consider starting a blog too that details all the things you have done (basically this thread lol). other than that post on forums like this one and others.

good luck and sorry to hear about the "Craigs List Flagger" bugging you.

I may have to try the paper... thanks for the tips.

I still laugh about it.
Nothing new lately. Starting the plumbing tomorrow for the new fish room. And the Yellow Lab Cichlid female is holding again! That is about it for now. Pics tomorrow on our progress on the basement, and hopefully I can get a new "Fish Rescue" video uploaded on You Tube, so I can also post that.

Keeping the thread alive, haha.
Thought I'd show an update on the breeding projects. Added a few new things, etc.
The Cherry Shrimp breeding project is going amazingly well. Started with about a dozen, now have around three-dozen. I added some duckweed and a piece of driftwood to the tank also, along with a few snails. ;) Hoping to add a background to it, and spiff it up a bit more. I did see that two females were holding eggs today, and got the chance to get one in a breeder box to get a better shot.
The Kribs laid more eggs not too soon after they ate their first batch, and they hatched out. There are now more than two-dozen, but I'm not positive. They wont stay still to be counted, lol.
The Yellow Lab fry and Albino fry are getting bigger every day. Should have 12 Albino and about 16 Yellow Labs, I hope. I will have to move them into a larger tank soon.
And just recently, I got the chance to watch my Hybrid African Cichlid (Yellow lab x Red Zebra) spawn with a Red Top Hongi Cichlid. Manage to strip three of the little guys from the mouth of the female Hongi Cichlid, and was glad to see that the eggs were fertile. Left the rest with her for now, seems how she probably would have a better chance raising them than I, lol. Once the three I have get larger, I'll know when to get the rest from her. ;) It is the end of day two, and the three fry are still alive, so hopefully they stay that way. Interested in how they turn out. Red Hongi Labs. :D
And finally, the German Blue Ram breeding project. No eggs yet, but the female looks fat and ready to spawn. Added a live plant to the tank to spiff it up a bit. Hoping to have eggs by tomorrow, but that is up to them, not me, lol.

People who leave animals in a house after a move are just sick. That fish is in a good home now. My neighbors did the same thing to a russian blue cat and we adopted her simply by feeding her. Its sad to think of animals dieing from neglect. Those people are shameless.

I agree with you, and although, some people do see it as being "just a fish", it's still an animal. It may not be a dog or a cat, but it is still something worthy of a good home.
Sadly, the Green Sunfish passed not too long ago. Nothing seemed to be wrong with him, either than the condition he was in, obviously. Guess it was just his time. RIP

28 fry total! Stripped the rest today, seeing that the female was getting beat up, and fairly underweight. Now with an empty mouth, she will probably go back to terrorizing the tank, lol.

I also just ordered four 2" Blue Dolphin Cichlids, and hopefully be able to get them to spawn one day. :D
Difficult to breed, I know, but you'll never learn until you try. ;)

what are you going to do when you run out of room for rescues? are you going to attempt to sell or give them away to responsible aquarists to open up some more space?
