Fish Store Hopping in San Jose, CA - aslo - What the heck is THIS??

I dont know if they used to be in Kirkwood plaza before hand, but when i first went there 3 years ago they were celebrating their f-ing huge store next to D&J hobby on the corner of W. Campbell and San THomas Aquino. i guess over time they realized it was too huge and earlier in the year, they moved into Kirkwood plaza right next to The Right Stuff and Starbucks. Havent been to their new location at all though, or i have, but that was when they were still moving fish between their old store and their new store.

Ahh.. Most interesting. Originally they were crammed into a spot in Kirkwood. Seemed like a porno shop... you couldn't even see into the place because of the flat black painted entry. You had to go right or left then break around a corner and you 'were in'. Pretty small area 200sqft. Then you went back further into a darkened room that was the SW area. They had maybe 20 tanks ~ 70 to 400gal. Most sat on pedastals that you could walk all the way around. It was quite mesmerizing. You could easily spend an hour trying to extract yourself.

The last few times I went they'd slurped up the entire next store front! Essentially doubling the size of the place. they then put in several ponds. Koi were breaking out into season.. (blech)

So I can totally see your scenario being dead on.

Thanks again.

Hey maybe us "Valley People" should get together sometime..

ya their previous store was 1000sqft i think. i remember it was in that range. They had the entrance and their giant koi pond with all these tanks for sale with the register to the left. A little path way between their cichlid tanks led to their massive selection of aquarium supplies to the left and small animals and reptiles to the right. with an equally large selection. at the end of this room was thei giant bird cage with a blue macaw. Down the small flight of stairs were their aquariums with pond stuff to the right, including supplies and more ponds filled with koi. to the left was their selection of fw and sw about the size of the entire size of their new store.

I see the whole scenario as: too small, then too big through overcompensation, and finally just right.

Thanks again.

that is what i was thinking, i asked the admin if we could get regional forums on here for that reason but one of them told me that there is not enough support to justify, that not everyone would use it..

Yeah, it would be really nice to have a Bay Area region (San Jose). This forum caught my eye because I live in San Jose. I think the reason they don't do the regional forums is because not enough members. I remember visiting the RC board and thinking people weren't really active for how many members it had. I found out later that people prefer to post in their region and responses were much faster. Its a good and bad thing. I like AC has many active users in all general forums.

Yeah, I can see where it does make a large hassle in the management realm and that really we should all be helping each other nationally/worldly with our myriad questions.

'Local' really makes more sense for the, "lets all meet in front of Eddie's aquarium", next Sunday afternoon announcement. Or I have a bunch of coral to dispose of, anyone want to pick some up, questions.

We can probably just do it in here. This post attracted because of the San Jose angle. We can just use it again!

Oh and Loners; Thanks for the low down on DPV.

I can correlate all that now as some fits with my past memory.

I can see the whole horrid "cycle". Ammonia => Nitrite => Nitrate => overload => crash => Ammonia =>

Wheels within wheels.

LOL
