As per most that post here, age doesn't matter...it is how willing you are to take the advice being offered...or continue to have issues.....even while acknowledging discus issues....more fish are being purchased for delivery this week...petluvr is correct in his statement.
there is better ways to get your point across, I didn't say I disagree with any of the comments here. I agree he is way overstocked but writing stuff like that is only going to go in one ear and out the other. I already gave him my opinion in a private message, and I was nice about it. Besides if he were my kid, I wouldn't want anyone talking (or typing) to him like that. And sorry age does matter when it comes to processing information and making informed decisions, I happen to think he is more mature than most 14 year olds I know, but he's still a kid, and still learning. I think he will take everyone's advice into account, there is no need to belittle him.

Bob's advice is solid. I was just about to recommend you sell off your discus and baby angels and cut the rest of your stock in half.

Not belittling him at all....he has been here for a while and posted numerous threads in that time period...all giving the same overall advice..if he has taken it into account, he hasn't acted on it until posting this thread...even while buying more fish...maybe he should stop letting it go in one ear and out the other....as he appears to have done so for the time here.

Just seems odd that he gives advice about overstocking to others but can't apply the same info to himself and his tanks. I and others will repeat the same comments until he follows thru. Plain and simple.

I also would make the suggestion, TheFishBoss, that you think a lot harder about suggesting stock to other people until you've got a handle on what a properly stocked tank looks like yourself. I've seen you suggest some very incompatible fish to people in the past several weeks. A new person posting here for the first time looking for advice doesn't know how experienced YOU are and could end up taking your advice and putting incompatible fish together, or over stocking their tank. Don't make suggestions to others unless you are absolutely confident in your abilities and advice and could defend your reasoning if something goes wrong.

Bob I totally agree with you and I was not arguing anyone's point. And I was not referring to you when I mentioned belittling. I'm just saying, and not referring to everyone here, there's a nicer way to het a point across.

:)

Agreed.

There is somewhat of an art to stocking advice (which is why I avoid giving it out ). What works for some people doesn't work for others. Some extremely 'safe' combinations can fail and some extremely 'dangerous' combinations can succeed (which is why some of us are capable of making AQAdvisor throw up its virtual hands and consider a new purpose in life :evil_lol:). At the very least, a disclaimer should very often be included informing the person getting the advise that "this may work but isn't commonly expected too".

Does he taste like mixed fruit like a gumball too?
