I have been spending WAY too much time playing with the fishies in my pond, and they pretty much come when I call now, which is incredibly cool...to me at least.

Yesterday I was hanging half in the pond as usual, looking for the lone snail that moved in, and checking to see how many more inches until my first water lily bud breaks the surface, when all six fishies came zooming over, right under my nose! Apparently my nose was just above the surface, and Pearl thought it looked tastey, so she came by for a nibble! (I think the orange one was after my necklace!) I had my daughter take this pic and posted it for a few friends...who thought it was gross and disgusting!!

If your dog comes by and gives you a big lick in the face, you KNOW where that tongue has been,:barf:but a fish nibbling the end of your nose is gross?! I'd have to disagree.

Am I the ONLY person who plays with their fishies?

If your friends thought it was gross, then they aren't fish people. I think it's a cute photo, although I can honestly say I have never kissed any of my goldies-LOL

Everyone has different standards. I personally cringe at the thought of a big dog on the bed, but love cats, and think your pond nibblers are cute.

I used to have a 13" koi that would literally take my fingers and thrash about -- thoroughly grossing out bystanders, but otherwise being harmless (if perhaps a bit unhealthy for the fish). I also found that super-friendly dojo loaches are a source of endless entertainment in the aquarium, as some actually seem to enjoy being touched.

how cute probably like kissing betta fish:grinyes:
and yes my fish do jump and give kisses(nips):tropicalfish::tropicalfish::tropicalfish:

Very cute. I love it when my fish notice me.

Fish > Dog

I keep dogs and I hate being licked in the face so when they start indicating doing that, I shove their faces off away from my face as I never appreciated a lick on my face.lol

I found that when my goldfish were in the pond at my camp that if I tapped on the side of the pond a few times under the water they'd all come over and stare at my fingers...lol... never got them to eat out of my hands (I did catch them with my hands though), but I did have my cories nibbling my fingers before :lol2: I always let my dogs lick my face, LOL... and my tortoises eat right out of my hands (But I can't feed them carrots like that unless I'm very careful.. especially the baby carrots that look like little fingers :headshake2:). I've always been one to want to interact with animals as much as possible, I guess; when I was little I used to let the parrot in our vet's office nibble my stuffed animals, lol. (of course I also tried to talk to him, but hey, I was like 4. :D)

I second the boo to your grossed-out friends, lol. I love that pic, too ;)

Aw, they are so big and pretty! I wish mine were a little more confident like that. I think it's VERY cool!
