for those considering a cannister filter...

I do second the connectors to the filter as a noticeable weak spot . I currently support the hoses but am looking at options to reinforce the connector s

Yep, nt real impressed with the connecters, one had a very tight thread, had to actually use a pair of pliers to secure it.

But man man, this things mve some water, i ended up running my spray bar straight down and pointed to the side, is definatly moves plenty of water.

and as mentioned in earlier posts so quiet yu actually have to put your head down near it just to hear it run.
Am thinking a couple of jandy valves spliced into the lines or see if i can locate a few quick disconnects.

So far no issues short of the lack of instructions, does that big button actually do anything?

...does that big button actually do anything?

Haha.. Nope, not a darned thing. That's supposed to be the button to prime the thing. But it doesn't do anything. Still need to lay it over it it's side for the motor to push all the air out.

the button on mine acts like it's doing something..it tries to move water but it is not that great at it.

I have three running now..moving water is NOT an issue with this filter.
I have one packed with carbon and it still moves water well.

again the connectors may be a weak point but I am still experimenting with ways to help this out.
a quick connect would be nice.(Jebao) is the brand name.

I have some of catalina's lights now.. very nice reflectors but the light looks dim compared to my external ballast I have on diy.

I swapped bulbs to check the difference and it does appear to be the fixture..tho it is on the legs opposed to the other fixture on the glass.

1 month follow up.

again it is short in terms of filter running. but I did end up with 3 of these now.

these are all running fine.. the original one has been thru several water changes. and no start up issues. still running strong.
I am going to remove the spray bar or make the holes larger to decrease return disruption.

this filter moves water well.

i also have tried a couple of the 65 watt power compact lights. I am not liking the bulbs much and will most likely replace these with a better brand.. the light can be ordered with square 4 pin or straight 4 pin

Just a quick note, this filter is now $69 + $13 shipping (to Chicago). It seems someone :) is making it popular.

lol

it's always been $69 they had them on sale for over a month

;)
