Fozzybear Update (Pic Heavy)

Snowflake my l183 thinks he's a cory

anybody else have a BN that thinks its a cory? i do...i think after a year of living with 25 or so of them he's decided to join the herd. I've been interested to watch him come out and feed every morning at feeding time and thought i'd share with ya'll...enjoy

Possible multi breeding, we'll see

I've been meaning to do an update on my multi tank. I've had the fish for quite a few months now and they have seemed to color up and fill out nicely. A couple of weeks ago i started to feed them Cylcop-eeze to condition my females and prepare them for possible breeding time. I call cyclopeeze fish crack because of the level of enthusiasm it draws for all my fish...but there is one female that i noticed whom despite being excited to eat and eating vigorously, wasn't leaving her shell. So I've been watching her for a bit and i'm fairly certain she has either laid eggs or is planning on it. She guards one shell and cares for it tirelessly, also she defends her shell firmly from any fish except the dominant male and has colored up to a nice dark grey. So I grabbed a photo and a little film and thought I'd see what ya'll think. Are babies on the way soon?

My angels did the nasty

Wewt...now we'll see if they decide to eat the young...dad is very defensive and the rest of the tank are staying well away, there are a few discolored eggs and its their first go 'round so I'm going to let them decide with the first couple batches and then maybe down the road if they're killers then i'll start pulling whatever they nest on to raise the fry. Anyways...:dance:my fish did a cool thing lol

Another Broad Spectrum Update

Okay, so I just had this whole nice wordy post get deleted so here goes the abridged version: this here is what came of the daphnia hatchery i had been workin on for the badidae they wound up stabilizing fine on golden pearls and the hatchery sucked so i decided to nestle it in between my two 10 gallons so it piggyback some heat and light from then (it does have its own heater...just efficiency's sake) I even made a little trapdoor for the light so it doesn't look terrible. GOt this little dragon scale male for it...he'll have to be namefied.

the gourami's 10gallon got an anubias that a nabbed form one of the other tanks around and some dwarf hairgras from the 50 everybody is much happier.

Strannanaberry and the badis badis tank is pretty much same ol' the green babutis in there have made a big comeback recently
IMG_20120211_142908.jpg

My 50 is also pretty much the same except that my angels decided to breed, they've done a decent job of caring for them except that (not what i was expecting at all) they aren't eating the sterile eggs, so i've seen some fungus spread, but since its their first batch i'll see what they can learn for the next go around, I'm not really trying to have a million angel babies around at the moment so i figured they could have all the time in the world to learn.

the multies are more or less the same, that female that darkened up still hangs out at her shell dark all the time but i'm not seeing any other changes so who knows....wait and watch i guess. they still mature fairly significantly as time goes on so i'm not fully certain they're really ready.

The other day on the couch my wife was imagining out loud about her 20 and the idea of an island to plant anubias etc. on came up and i jumped on it. So i fit up this piece of wood i had in the garage and siliconed it on the back...also took the opportunity to paint the background black and while all the fish were holding in the spare 20h i've got in the garage i started to get pretty excited about the 55 gallon tanganyika community i'm going to put together this summer with the hardware from my 50 when it matures up to a 125...wewt.

finally the chi...this little bugger has been pretty tricky for me...the beta didn't like the open space in the middle, or the drafts...and i didn't like anything i put in the tank hardware wise...and all the plants i put in died....LEDs boooo....so i put it in front of a window that only gets a couple hours of morning sunlight and is usually blinded anyways and put a fancy table lamp over it with a 40w 6,700k CFL in it...things have perked up nicely, but i think i have my next candidate for a black background.

lol tell me about it, its always over growing the tank lol looks great tho and my friends now have it in their tanks thanks to me weekly removals

yeah, it really does conquer a tank quickly, but I always say its easier to pull out floaters than algae, you can't just grab algae off the surface by the fist full
