Wondering if anyone out there has some and if you do could you post some pictures which would be great. Also anyone have rays in Texas im looking for info about regulations on keeping them i havent had any lucky get any off the net just that there illegal so info would be of help. Im mostly interested in Potamotrygon reticulata and Potamotrygon histrix. I know this should go in bottom feeders but no one is really helping me with the processes of getting through the legal stuff. please help thanks.

I think we've been through this before
rays are very sensitive to water quality, you need atleast 180G for the smallest ray. you need a RFD and Permit for Rays in Georgia Texas Florida louisianna

I know but im looking for people have had experience with rays in Texas and the thing is im willing to get that large of a tank to properly house ray/or rays.

I have 3 Rays, Leopoldi Motoro Flower, I do not suggest them to a begginner,
handled improperly they can kill you. rays of any species are very poisionus. the reticula or Teacup needs 180 Gallons, Pristine water conditions, These fish need more care then Discus. the Histrix common name eludes me but they are expensive to own. I would forget about them untill your 55G is taken care of, Several species on your signature are not brakish fish. your killing them slowly. Snowflake Moray is a marine Species requiring 1.020-1.023 gravity. not brakish.

Yeah, but you didn't answer any of our questions. How do you get an RFD in Texas? And how come you know so much for a kid? I'm serious. I'm curious because I really thought you were at least 30 until I read your profile. It's not a bad thing, you're advanced for your age.

I am not a kid as you say, where you got my age is another mystery since my profile has no pertinant information about me. as for a RFD it is aquired through your branch of fish and game offices. I have done reasearch on rays before deciding to keep them, theres books out there and alot of information on them. they are a sensitive creature that if improperly handled will die and most places wont give you your money back because they are so hard to keep alive

Your birth year was on your public profile, but I see you have removed it. Sorry if it was a touchy subject to you and I made you take it off. Maybe I was tripping and it was never there. :cool2: :joe: I honestly didn't mean it as a bad thing. You know a lot more than a lot of folks, age notwithstanding.

Sorry, harrishawk, that I keep stealing your thread. I hope you get your rays and that they treat you well. You sound like a responsible person if you're trying to go through the proper steps, legally.

Yeah its sad when your LFS suggests going to another state as a way to get rays but that 2000$ fine is also a very good reson to do it legally. Thanks for all the help and its ok if you take a thread over if its for a good reson also thanks for the PM.

your tank still has incompatable species.......
