I've always thought a real patriot was someone who thinks their country is the best/proudest/can do no wrong, etc, because they were born there. I think this thread pretty much sums it up
Peace

Peace
And my point is why should any President, PM, Soveriegn or potentate put any country other than his own first? No one is going to get elected President of the United States of America by campaigning for sweeping reforms from Canada or Mexico at this point because they are our allies, we share borders with them and frankly, they don't have any real influence on world politics. American Presidents will still get elected on how much better they are for America.Gambusia said:My point is Kerry would have been no better for Canada than Bush is.

Sorry, I'm a realist.bortsamson said:thats a little bit self centered.
No, it's factual.In fact, thats extremely...prejeduce.
Politically speaking that is, lol.
Then please tell me what influence Canada exerts over the US?To think that one devolped country has little influence over another is almost an ignorance.
We don't? I'm sorry, I don't see Canada willing to step up to the plate with China, North Korea, Russia... We're the squeaky wheel because the UN cannot seem to stick to it's own resolutions. "Sorry Saddam, you didn't meet your deadline... so here's a new one."In terms of world politics, the US does NOT have the biggest hand in the pot, however, it tends to be the squeaky wheel.
I think I just justified it.You cannot deny that.
Maybe there is the difference... you whine, we went to war for ours.In all fairness, we british columbians are still whining to Britain to gain our independance, hehe.
Oh, I think of my words before I speak. I was cognizant of everything I said before. Politics is self interest. It's a fact your rhetoric cannot change. As for what President Bush needs to tune... I think you'll find he is actually speaking the minds of the American people. After all, he was re-elected by a larger margin than which he won initially and I say again, americans will still vote for the American president based on the needs of America. Thank you, and good daySo, I urge you to rethink your words before you speak, a skill your president is in need of some tuning eh?
The little I know about the American electoral system sais that americans don't actually vote for the president.Harlock said:americans will still vote for the American president based on the needs of America
