Fun kind of game, but not for the lounge!

not sure about my worst mistake, but I think it would be forgetting to put the strainer on the filter.....one goldfish got his head totally screwed up because of that, but still managed to live.

Then, another 3-4 weeks later, the same thing happened....with the same fish.

And again.....and again.....

Till one day he got pine cone disease and died.

Oh yeah, and one time I accidently dumped like 20 pieces of krill into my goldfish tank......every fish was lying on the bottom for more than an hour. All lived though.

well, for me it was buying a ropefish cause he loked so cool and putting him in the same tank as my convict cichlids. needless to say, the rope had the stuffing beaten outta him the next morning.

Legendaryfrog brought another reminder to my head.

I had a powerhead, and one of my fish knocked off the protective cone thing. Well I came home from school and my saulosi cichlid was stuckin in the powerhead. Poor girl had a huge hicky on her head because it was drawing all the blood to her head. :( I felt terrible! :(

Cleaning vigorously with a brand new toothbrush all my plant decorations, etc. on a fairly young barely established tank. Caused a mini cycle of large proportions and I was doing water changes for nitrite control twice a day for six weeks. Now I know to leave stuff alone unless really nasty then swish in used tank water instead of cleaning in a partially full bathtub.
:duh:

lol. I use a toothbrush on my tank to get algae off the glass when I do waterchanges. I've never had any problems... yet....

not allowing space for a decent filtration system. durnit.

also forgetting to turn off the heaters when doing a water change...one exploded :D

When I was a kid I was the caretaker for a friend of the families tank when he was out of town, which was often (army base). So.... he had 4 red bellied piranah that were fed feeder golds 3 times a week. One time when he was gone the LFS was out of feeder golds and suggested feeder tetras, I didn't know any better so a got a few dozen. The small size of the tetras coupled with the poor eye sight of the piranah ended up making a very pretty piranah tank into a breeding ground for tetras. What a mess... under fed and very pi$$ed piranah swimming around with enough food to last them a month if they could only see it.
