German Blue Rams and cory's not getting along.

Or what if I got an angelfish and then had this in the tank:

2 x GBR
8 x Harlequin Rasbora
1 x Angelfish

Is that ok or am I dreaming here with a 30g? Thanks again for any help...

EDIT: Actually, I don't think I'd want to get an angel, since it's also a cichlid and I just sense there being a problem between it an the Rams. I want to nix the cory cats and replace them with something else. Ideas??

This is concrete:

8 x Harlequin Rasbora
2 x GBR
What next????????

Build my tank! :)

hey;)

actually, there wouldn't be any problems with angels and rams, as angels rule the top area of the tank, and the rams the bottom;)

i love angels, get 1 with the rest of ur stocking and u should be set;)

Hmm, now you've' got me thinking about angels! Even though my rams are more aggressive than most, do you think they'd be ok in there? I just know that sometimes angels can stray to the bottom of the tank and that worries me a little bit. I was thinking hatchets because they never stray far from the surface. Are you sure an angel will be okay?

Also, if I can start planting now, what type of plant goes with VERY low lighting with no CO2?

Ok, sounds awesome. Thanks for the great site! So I guess I just root it into the substrate wherever I want it? I'm new to this. Also I'm assuming I should stir up the substrate like once a month since it's sand and I won't have MTS for a little while, unless I find them before that?

The only major issue: the tank probably isn't deep/tall enough for angels to be happy. I have a Bolivian Ram(B-Ram), German Blue Ram, and 9 cories, along with tetras (neon and serpae) and a Gouramis (pearl). All the fish get along fine, proof that the compatibility of the cichlid is based on it's personality. The B-Ram and GBR get along great, and even stick together when moving around the tank. You just got unlucky, you're rams are more agressive then mine.

Ok, thank you! I'm guessing I don't need fertilizer or anything like that? I mean I know it would probably help, but do I need it? Also, I'd like to up the Harley's to 10, would that be ok?

So...
2 x GBR
10 x Harleys
6 x Hatchets

Are the extra two Harleys ok?

Sounds like a good stock!

Thank you! :)

Also, (Last question), I'd like to go with some CFLs (spiral bulbs) to light the tank because I think that might be cheaper. I'm shooting for 90W to make it 3W/gal, so when it says 90W, does that mean 90W in the CFLs, or 90W as in the brightness of the bulb compared to normal incandescent lights? For instance, I have some bulbs here that are 26 watts, meaning they use 26 watts of electricity, however it says 26W = 100W on the package, with a picture of a CFL where it says 26, and a picture of a normal incandescent bulb where it says 100.

So, does this mean I'd need ~3 of them, or can I get away with three smaller ones that are equal to 30W of incandescent light? Thanks.

EDIT: Here's a pic of what the bulbs look like.
