Getting Anubias Petite to Stay in Substrate

So I'm having the issue with the couple of anubias petite plants that I have (and I had this same issue with my anubias nana) that, in avoiding burying the rhizome, I cannot get the plant to sit securely in the substrate.

I know I could tie them to some of the pieces of driftwood in the tank, but they wouldn't fit well...I like where they are now.

I was thinking of maybe tying the roots to a small piece of wood and then pushing that wood into the substrate, so it could act like an anchor

Has anyone figured out a good way of dealing with this?

I tie mine to a small piece of slate, then bury the slate and make sure it is completely covered with substrate.

That's what I do, too, when they're not attached to driftwood or something else.. tie it to a rock and put that into the sand.

I'm having the same problem, I think I might have to try the small rock thing. Thanks :thm:

what do you do when the plant grows? Like...when the rhizome extends, and then sprouts new roots? Do you just push those down or do you wait till it gets to a certain length and the either trim it or pull it out and re-tie it? Seems like all my new roots are actually pushing the plant out of the substrate :headshake2:

That's the plant growing towards the light.

But yes, I just tuck it around/under or trim it. Just depends on what you are going for.
