Glass or arcrylic

True.

They say it's clearer than glass. At least that was the speil they gave me when i bought my SeaClear Acrylic tank.

I have both..the biggest issue with the acrylic is cleaning..PIA when you have to scrape algae..glass is much easier to keep algae off..
I would gladly trade my current acrylic for a glass tank.
btw..in the long run the cost of acrylic is offset by the cost of shipping..

I was going to order a glass tank till I found out what it cost to ship...

i agree that glass is clearer. but since i live in Ca on a fault line...i picked acrylic for my reef....safer cant crack really and can be drilled and cut with ease...but scratches so if u have kids go glass....but then glass breaks...it all comes down to where u live and how u live and ur personal preference.

From the Seaclear site:

"[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]Only the finest materials and the craftspeople of CASCO could construct our virtually seamless aquariums. In ten years, when you are still admiring how beautiful your aquarium is (and your friend who likes to save money is buying his or her fourth glass aquarium), you'll thank yourself for getting only the very best."

The only thing I like about my acrylic tank is that the front corners are bent. AKA the sides and front are one piece of acrylic...no seam.

Forgot about that.

Other than that, PITA!

IF you want a custom shaped tank with seemless transitions and scratching & price are not an issue; you go with acrylic. If you want a simple rectangular shaped tank that wont be moved every other month; go glass.

There are some really nice seemless tanks out there; but they are going to cost you a very pretty penny or two.

The only advantage to having acrylic is that you can drill into them for a sump under the fish tank. Other then that, glass is cheaper, wont scratch near as easy, easier to find, and looks a lot clearer, especially filming.
