not sure right now.... i have a saltwater 30 gallon and was think ing of acclimating him to that...

That wouldn't be any better than keeping him in a freshwater tank.
They need brackish water, not freshwater, not saltwater.

I just got 2 Pearl Gouramis in my tank (65g). They are a beautiful fish, I am finding one is is more dominate than the other. He is also guarding algae pellets on the bottom of the tank, chasing the corys away(4 asst.) I can't tell if they are female or male? I have a good mixture of tetras and Rasboros and they seem to leave them alone. Is this just typical of Gouramis, and if they are like that together, you would think the store would(Big Als) would say something.

First off, the figure 8 really needs to be in brackish water, and the rest of your fish need to be away from the figure 8. It will eventually decide to sample your other fish and start shredding fins.

As for the gouramis - what is the surface measurement of a 60 gallon hex? Paradisefish are not nearly as fearsome as people think (I've kept them off and on for 10 years now). I have a pair in with 2 female giant/banded gouramis (C. fasciata) and a single female dwarf gourami. I've kept them with lots of other fish with no problems. Male paradisefish will fight, and if they think they might be able to eat a small fish they'll try...but if they have the space (i.e. - tank 24" long or wider) I've never had an aggression problem.

I was going to say I have had all kinds of gourami in my 55g tank and they have never attacked eachother, or killed other fish. It maybe my good luck, but I have had 3 big blue 3 spot, one gold, 2 dwarf red, a mating pair of paradise, and many other fish. Tetras, plecos, angels, cats, not all at the same time, but I have had all my gourami for three years never had problems.
