I was just given one of those small acrylic terraniums which used to house crickets for a frog. After a good wash with vinager, I am sure it will be safe for fish. I would like to set it up as a small coldwater tank for my desk. It will have a whisper 10 filter as I have one of those lying around the house. It will use an aquaclear sponge for mechanical and biological filtration as I don't see it neccessary to go and buy expensive cartridges just to get activated carbon. Any good coldwater fish that I could possibly put into this small approximately 3 gallon container? The room temperature will be about 72* F

Guppies, maybe? Or get a small heater and put in a betta. And maybe a few ghost shrimp.
I had a Whisper 10 in my small tank, also. I just replaced it with a Red Sea Nano using a sponge from an Aqua-Clear 20. Looks a lot better.

Too small for white clouds. After having kept them in my 5 gallon QT and then moved into a 29 gallon tank they are a totally different fish. Much more vibrant and pretty.

A 3 gallon tank? Well if the room temp is always warm enough then a betta. But what about aquatic frogs? Or just some shrimp?

Those little endlers livebearers would be good in there. Niether the male nor the female get even an inch in length. The males about 1/2 inch and females are about 3/4 inch I believe...lots of plants for them to swim around in and you could have a nice little school. Along with a few shrimp, I think it would be a rather nice setup.

What about Heterandria Formosa, the least killifish? North American native fish, I believe likes it around 74* or so, males ¼" and females up to 1".

Tricksterpup has that, well, when it's not Christmas, as his avatar.

Perhaps he can give you some info.
