Don't know why. You could just take everything to the new tank within less than an hour and everything should be the same as the old tank. Think about it as if you just removed the old glass.
* Another way would be taking all the equipment and ornaments to the new tank, fill it with new declorinated water and run it. You could exchange water from on tank to the other, maybe, 2 gallon every six hours. This way, you'll be putting fltered and oxigenated water into the old tank and givin "dirty" water to the new tank to keep the bacteria alive. After 3-4 days doing so, pass the fish to the new tank and leave the old behind. Complicated? I bet so.
* Also, it would be great if you would keep both tanks. Get a new filter for the 29 galloner and start the cycle. When it's ready, you could split your fish into 2 groups and/or get some new ones.
