So what would be a rule of thumb for getting shrimp with my angelfish in the tank? No less than 3 inches?

Shrimp are not a good choice for any tank with Angelfish. Large Bamboos perhaps but you do not have enough cover. I'd go with crayfish--large crayfish or fully grown dwarfs.

Would crayfish or bamboo shrimp hassle cory catfish?

Ill have to see what my LFS has in terms of large shellfish and go from there I guess...

Crayfish can bug fish and sometimes eat them. Personally, I would not put one in there with the cories, but then again, I haven't kept crays.

So I should stick to large shrimp like bamboo shrimp?

I'm planning on getting or making a little cave and also getting live plants for the tank... I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to get some Cory's since the Swordtails spend a good amount of time on the lower part of the tank... I wanna have it pretty balanced...

I'm not sure an Angel fish wouldn't peck at a bamboo shrimp- even if it couldn't eat it outright- it might hassle it.

Not talking from experience and don't know- but I would be hesitant.

Yeah you never know how ANY fish will react to newcomers... I'll just have to try it out and see...
