Good Luck Bamboo

Has anybody heard of using 'good luck bamboo', in an aquarium? I was thinking it could make an unusual aquascape, if they'd live. I've been told that they are not toxic, so they should be ok with the fish.
 
Bamboo really only needs .5 - 1 inch of water in their vase to thrive. That said, you really couldn’t grow them in an aquarium. The roots are bad for the fish's digestive system (what little abilities they do have!), and the stalk & leaves do not do well under water. :(

It appears that they've planted the bamboo and the Bromeliads at or above the waterline, within driftwood.

Here's 2 more of a 2nd tank - with mangroves, I think?

They have 3 airstones in here to circulate water, no other filtration. Cool, eh?
