So much misinformation in this thread... where to begin.

First, you should always quarantine new fish, like a couple of the posts pointed out.

Second, putting a quarter-sized discus in with 3" discus is asking for the smallest to become an immediate omega and it will spend the majority of its time hiding from the others, not getting enough to eat and winding up stunted...kinder to euth. it now.

"calm down:)
+1, very peaceful unless breeding, or 1 female and 2 males(all adults)" wha...? where did this come from?

QT should be for 30 days, not a week or two. If no symptoms of disease present themselves, ok. If a disease shows, treat til symptoms disappear or prescribed antibiotic course is completed, then reset the 30-day clock.

+1 to wesley. Also did you only get 1? Because they NEED to be in groups. If only one he is scared to death and you probably will have a hard time getting him to eat.

While discus are not the most aggressive fish I have seen, you obviously have not seen them seting up their pecking order, or deciding that the runt needs to go. They CAN and WILL be aggressive not just when they are breeding.

Well..so much to say, but it will all be negative enough I'll get reported. You should have learned enough from the first round of discus issues to know better, actually. QT is for the fish just received....not mixing them with other fish from different suppliers, even if they are in QT. And, it's a $20 dollar fish...postage doesn't count....and why would you only buy one? Sigh....I didn't realize you had moved way up north.....

Wait...you have the new one in the same tank as the sick stunted ones...???

Yikes I didn't even know you could get discus that small. The smallest one's I've ever sen for sale were 3". You're current discus are much larger and will pick on the new smaller one. A good general rule for adding any new cichlid to an established group is to rearrange the decore. I like to add them at night as well. Considering the problems you had with the current discus it would have been wise to QT these new ones.

Why did you buy new fish (the fish in your QT) when you knew you had the discus coming in the mail?

+1 to everything said on page 2...also, I doubt that a quarter sized discus and adult angelfish (such as the ones in your avatar) would mix well.

To be honest, the way you have your stocking listed in your signature (minus the discus) that tank is already just about fully stocked. Hopefully you got some more emerald green cories.

So...you are dumping more new fish into the QT...per your other thread...??? As of a 7:31 post...

SORRY TO SHOUT, BUT IM SO HAPPY;)

JUST CAME BACK FROM THE LFS WITH

6 ORANGE BEE SHRIMP ($12)
6 RCS($12)
6 GREEN BABAULTI SHRIMP($10)
AND 4 OTTOS:):)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ottos are going in quarantine, shrimp are going in shrimp tank:)

Guys, he's 14, and a little carried away with the hobby, let's not rip him to shreds. Fishboss I have to agree with quarantine, I just lost my WHOLE 10 gallon by adding a ram that was sick (he was supposed to be going into my 30). Everything else caught what he had and died, but the cursed fish is still alive, I'm still battling whatever he has and its been a month. Imagine if this happened in your 72, how devastated you would be.....I learned my lesson, now that my 10 gallon is empty it will be a quarantine.

Bob I don't think I've ever seen you this giddy, lol.

okay, i bid on this discus and had forgotten about it when i bought the others since those were super cheap, okay, i know i made a mistake, its in the quarantine, and yes the ottos are with it, i bought the shrimp for my shrimp tank, so not a big deal, and im super excited cuz the shrimp were super cheap, u know, $2 for greens and oranges seems crazy to me. thx for the replys though,

14 isn't an excuse, i know.

okay, so no more buying fish for a few months, i told my parents to not take me to any fish shops unless im out of food or fish are sick, so no fish. ;)

i am kind of in control now on spending bc im a) spent lots and b) have $25 left of money i earned selling(i made $200), but spent($180), and c) done with buying. The last fish im getting are 4 bolivian rams which are going to be sold as soon as they arrive, as I am giving them to my LFS.

so back to the present

my little bro said yes to tank in his room, so now the shrimp tank is in his room(tomorrow), and the others are in mine.

now r u guys happy, just don't bombard me with stuff to make me feel even worse
